What is a foundation? A foundation is an institution that manages a fixed capital and ensures that the income from the capital is used for a good purpose. According to our statutes, we can pursue many different charitable purposes, and every citizen can contribute to this with his/her endowment.
The most important body of our foundation is the Founders' Meeting: Our approximately 100 donors support the foundation with time and money and thus help the Bürgerstiftung Jena to fulfil its statutory purpose in the long term. At the annual Founders' Meeting, the donors decide on the allocation of funds and the work of the Board of Directors.
Our donors increase the capital of the Foundation through endowments and thus help to increase the income from the capital. In this way, they sustainably help to fulfil our statutory purpose of "increasing the capital" and to let the income grow.
